Description

Grade 1 – Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), Kenya

Grade 1 marks the beginning of Lower Primary education under Kenya’s CBC, designed for learners typically aged 6 years. It builds on the foundation laid in Preprimary 1 and 2, transitioning children from largely play-based learning into more structured, subject-based instruction while retaining a strong emphasis on active, learner-centered engagement.

Communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, creativity and imagination, citizenship, digital literacy, self-efficacy, and learning to learn — developed through subject-specific content to build a strong academic and character foundation for Grade 2 and beyond.
